How to use the essential oils

Essential Oils

In order to keep our health care it is very important to take care of how we use the essential oils. Here you will find some recommendations to take in consideration when you start using essential oils.

  • Review the uses and benefits of the oil you want to use.
  • Follow the suggested instructions.

There are three ways to use essential oils:

  1. Aromatic use: any method that helps you experience the aroma of of the oils, such as:
    • use an essential oil diffuser
    • apply a drop on the hands and inhale
    • as a personal fragrance
  2. Topical Use: allows the oil to be absorbed into the skin
    • apply in specific areas and rub
    • add to moisturizing lotions or creams
  3. Internal Use: first make sure that the essential oil is safe for internal use, when ingested it is allowed that the oil be transported throughout the body:
    • add to a glass of water
    • take with a vegetable capsule
    • place a drop under the tongue

As you try different oils, you will learn which essential oils work for you and your needs. To have a better experience with the use of essential oils, it is important to use oils that are pure, powerful and safe.

Safety measures when using essential oils

  • Avoid applying essential oils in sensitive areas, such as the nose, ears, eyes or cracked skin.
  • Avoid using “hot” or “strong” oils on the face, such as: cassia oil, cinnamon oil, clove oil, geranium oil, lemongrass oil, oregano oil and Thyme oil.
  • Read labels and package instructions before using an essential oil for the first time.
  • Use diluted oil to minimize skin sensitivity, you can use Doterrra coconut oil or olive oil, be sure they are cold pressed and extra virgin oils.
  • Some oils such as citrus oils may have sensitivity when exposed to the sun, read the instructions well.
  • Always keep oils out of the reach of children, practice safe storage. If you have specific health problems, consult a professional before trying essential oils.
